Today in writer's workshop the first graders learned a new revision strategy: using transition words. The students used Those Shoes by Maribeth Boelts as a mentor text and identified places in the text where the author used transition words such as next, then, later, etc. Then, the children had the opportunity to revise their personal narratives and add transition words.
