In social studies, we have begun our school study. Today, we read a book about making maps and then proceeded to work on identifying the different places in the school on a map. The students walked through the hallways in small groups to identify the different classrooms and record their findings. The first graders are great cartographers! Next week they will apply what they've learned as they make their own maps of the school.
