1B: States of Matter

The first graders continued their study of states of matter today.  They predicted what would happen when an ice cube was heated on a hot plate.  Then, they observed the phase change from solid to liquid to gas.  While the water seemed to disappear, the first graders learned that the water molecules were still present in the form of a gas. The first graders watched a video about the properties of molecules in the different states of matter and then pretended to be water molecules as they worked in groups to dramatize all three states of matter.
