Today 1B enjoyed a read-aloud of Sophie's Squash, a story in which a young girl tries to keep a squash as her special friend. As we read this story together, the children worked on making logical predictions based on evidence from the text. When we finished the read-aloud, the students had a chance to hold a squash to decide whether they think she is "just the right size to hold," as Sophie does in the story.
